Running a website is very power intensive. We have servers, routers, and monitors - all running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. On top of that we have heating and cooling to maintain optimum temperatures, as well as humidity control, systems and lighting. This takes a lot of electricity. That electricity has to come from somewhere. In the past the traditional source of power has been coal burning power plants that put a large amount of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) into the air (not to mention a lot of other noxious chemicals). We just couldn't justify that anymore.
Renewable Choice Energy provides our servers and equipment with electricity generated by wind power. No, this doesn't mean if the wind stops blowing that our site will go down, but rather we purchase credits from wind energy producers to ensure that there is enough wind energy power added to the power grid to replace what we use.
